Scale-Ability II: Developing an AI Assistant to Promote Mental Health and Emotional Safety in Schools | Workshop
University Alliance Ruhr is going to host the follow-up workshop Scale-Ability II, which will bring together international experts to explore how artificial intelligence can support mental health and emotional safety in schools.
Date: December 18-19, 2025 | Location: New York University, New York, NY
A series of projects (EmoSmart, Umbrace, CARE) led by Dr. Benjamin Badstieber, Prof. Lucia Amrhein, and Prof. Patricia Jennings has generated new research in the areas of emotional schema work, social-emotional learning, and mindfulness. These highlight new ways of advancing teachers' professional development in managing stress and fostering mental health, particularly in challenging school and classroom contexts. The upcoming follow-up workshop, held as part of the UA Ruhr Future Fellow Program, will convene a small group of experts in New York to build directly on these developments. The goal is to bring these approaches together and jointly examine how an AI Assistant can serve as a viable and scalable tool for transferring scientific insights and training programs in schools. By Invitation only.
