Healthcare systems throughout the world collect massive amounts of data that together with new computer systems are significantly improving risk prediction and diagnostics as well as treatment and drug development. AI-powered technologies increase patient autonomy by enabling predictive, preventive, personalized and participatory medicine. Intelligent technologies have also contributed to augmented medicine, an emerging new field that uses new medical technologies to enhance different aspects of clinical practice. How have these new advances in AI applications changed medical practice as we know it today? Will AI democratize medical knowledge and expertise? How biased are AI systems towards populations that do not frequent the very medical centers upon whose data AI technologies are based?

These are some of the questions that a panel of experts from Canada, Germany and the U.S. will address during our discussion “AI in Medicine and Healthcare: A Transatlantic Conversation.”
